      Short answer is that it’s a combination of both. There are a number of predisposing factors which determine how people will respond to stress. Some of these likely have a biological/genetic basis, while there are psychological predictors too (e.g. individual differences/personality). But there are environmental factors as well, including things like life experience, familial factors and the amount of perceived social support an individual receives. So it’s clearly a very complex web, that’s difficult to disentangle!
