Hi Abigail, thanks for the question 🙂 I have always loved Psychology as a topic, but deciding to teach came a bit later. After I finished my PhD, I did a postdoctoral research job. I think it was during this role that I thought I felt ready to start sharing the knowledge that I have gathered over the years. Plus, you still keep learning while teaching, so it felt like the right decision.
I started teaching in University 6 years ago and I’m not sure it was ever something in my career plan. I worked as a Forensic Psychologist in practice for over 25 years and just felt it was time to share my experience and knowledge with a new generation of psychologists in training. Teaching students helps me learn and develop as much as them – sometimes they are surprised to hear this but it’s true!
